[Mesquitelist] Plotting characters onto a tree

Dear List,
I would like to be able to add character labels onto a tree in Mesquite but cannot seem to find this functionality anywhere?? I believe this is something you could do in MacClade...or is it there and I have simply overlooked it? And if it is not there will it be implemented in any new versions?
